As interest in hydrogen-oxygen medicine keeps rising, more and more families are beginning to pay attention to the potential health benefits of hydrogen-oxygen inhalation.
Yet faced with the wide variety of hydrogen-oxygen machine brands on the market and the stark price gap from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yuan, consumers often do not know where to start. It must be warned that the cost of choosing the wrong hydrogen-oxygen machine may be far more serious than “no effect.” When shopping, consumers must keep their eyes open and watch out for the following two core traps.
Trap 1: Passing Off Industrial Hydrogen-Oxygen Machines as Home Medical Equipment
There are many unlicensed hydrogen-oxygen machines on the market today that use industrial hydrogen-production technology, carrying great safety risks:
Liquid-electrolyte process—uses industrial strong alkali as electrolyte; during operation the alkaline solution may be inhaled into the airways with the gas and burn the respiratory tract, and the device tends to overheat and cannot run continuously.
Solid-conduction process (PEM/SPE proton membrane)—uses PFAS-type proton exchange membranes, forever chemicals that are hard to degrade; long-term inhalation may cause human toxicity, raise cancer risk, and even affect DNA inheritance. The EU has already issued PFAS restriction and ban regulations.
Trap 2: Unlicensed Products Claiming Medical Efficacy, Both Illegal and Ineffective
Besides the safety hazards at the technical level, unlicensed products commonly exhibit exaggerated marketing in promotion. Authoritative media such as CCTV have repeatedly exposed that a large number of offline experience centers and online merchants package ordinary hydrogen-rich water cups and unlicensed hydrogen generators as “miracle cures,” wildly advertising false claims such as “hinhaled or drunk hydrogen can purify the blood, control cancer, and cure chronic disease.”
Core Barrier: Look for “Class III Medical Device” Certification
Hydrogen inhalation is not simple “wellness” or “health cultivation” but a high-risk, invasive medical act; international authorities including China's NMPA, the US FDA, the EU CE system, and Japan's PMDA all manage hydrogen-oxygen inhalation devices under the strictest Class III medical device category. When shopping, consumers can verify through the “Medical Device Query” system on the National Medical Products Administration official website. Currently, only two legitimate registration numbers for hydrogen-oxygen inhalation devices have been approved in China—“国械注准20203080066” and “国械注准20233081929”—with the registrant in both being Shanghai Asclepius Meditec Co., Ltd.
