Recently,the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC)released national sentinel surveillance data on acute respiratory infectious diseases for April 2025(Weeks 14–18).The report shows that the COVID-19 positivity rate among influenza-like illness(ILI)cases seen in outpatient clinics and emergency departments has surged to 16.2%,rising to the highest detection rate among all monitored pathogens[1].As shown in the figure below:



On May 15,the“Eason Chan Fear and Dreams World Tour”announced on Weibo that Eason Chan suddenly became unwell.After medical evaluation,he was confirmed to have COVID-19 and advised to immediately suspend all performances to rest and recover.As a result,three scheduled concerts in Kaohsiung were postponed.


Shortly afterward,Eason Chan also posted a personal apology on his Weibo account.This incident serves as another reminder that COVID-19 has not fully faded,and continued vigilance is still necessary.



The recent uptick is not because vaccines no longer work,but largely because antibody levels naturally decline over time.

Therefore,the key factor influencing how severe symptoms become is an individual’s immune status:some people experience mild or no symptoms and recover quickly,while others may be confined to bed for a week or longer—or even develop lingering post-COVID effects.

Immunity is the body’s built-in vaccine,supported by a sophisticated defense system that creates multiple layers of protection.It helps fend off invading bacteria and viruses and also identifies and clears mutated or infected cells.

Mitochondria are the cell’s power plants,responsible for aerobic respiration and energy production.How well mitochondria function plays a key role in overall immune strength.Inhaling a hydrogen–oxygen mixture may support immune function by improving mitochondrial health at the cellular level.

The proposed mechanisms by which hydrogen–oxygen therapy may help—such as antiviral activity,mitochondrial activation and protection,and enhanced immune cell function—are outlined below[2].


During the pandemic,a multicenter,open-label clinical study led by researchers including Academician Zhong Nanshan reported significant improvements in the treatment group as early as Day 2 and Day 3,with benefits maintained through the end of hydrogen–oxygen inhalation therapy[3].


In 2022,several major hospitals—including Ruijin Hospital,Zhongshan Hospital,and Huashan Hospital—conducted joint clinical studies.Professors Qu Jieming,Zhang Wenhong,Song Yuanlin,and others published related findings,further supporting the safety and potential effectiveness of hydrogen–oxygen gas as an adjunctive therapy for COVID-19[3].
